Teleworks USA and KAHP Announce Partnership to assist Kentuckians affected by Dec. Tornado with remote-work employment opportunities

Teleworks USA, a premier work-from-home employment program, announces a new partnership with Kentucky Association of Health Plans to assist Kentuckians impacted by the December 2021 tornado in Western Kentucky to quickly gain employment.

Set to take effect immediately, the partnership will help connect up to 100 residents of the counties hardest hit by the storm with legitimate work-from-home job opportunities, said Michael Cornett, deputy director for employer engagement and program operations for Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program (EKCEP), the parent company of Teleworks USA.

“We all saw the pain the people of the region were going through in the aftermath of the tornado, but we were also inspired by their courage and how quickly they began to rebuild,” Cornett said. “And we’re excited to be working with Kentucky Association of Health Plans to be able to bring our proven services to the area and play even a small role in helping people get back on their feet.”

Kentucky Association of Health Plans (KAHP) is the trade association for Kentucky’s health insurance industry and works to build an affordable and effective health care system for Kentucky. KAHP has agreed to cover the cost of 100 Teleworks USA jobseeker vouchers for residents of Caldwell, Graves, Hopkins, and Muhlenberg counties. Each of the counties sustained severe damage when an EF4 tornado touched down on December 10, 2021 as part of a larger system of storms that affected multiple states.

“Health plans continue to play an important part in recovery efforts and making sure fellow Kentuckians in areas like southern Hopkins County and towns like Mayfield, Princeton, and Bremen are healthy and have all the resources they need to rebuild,” said Tom Stephens, Executive Director of Kentucky Association of Health Plans. “We want to be there through all stages and we’re proud to partner with Teleworks USA to assist with the economic recovery.”

Teleworks USA vouchers provide priority access to remote-job opportunities with global and national partner companies along with access to Teleworks USA staff who can assist job seekers throughout the application process. Staff will also host virtual workshops which can accommodate up to 40 people, at the end of which participants will apply for available positions.

Since 2015, Teleworks USA has connected more than 3,600 Kentuckians with legitimate remote-work jobs, representing more than $82 million in potential new wages for Kentucky communities. This new partnership with KAHP promises to bring these same services to communities in the western region of the Commonwealth.

“Our partner companies have a number of remote job opportunities available, and we’re ready to help prepare our neighbors in Western Kentucky to apply for and land those jobs,” said Teleworks USA Director of Operations Betty Hays. “We’re in the planning stages right now to host our first digital literacy workshops, and expect to announce those dates in the near future, so stay tuned.”
