Kentucky Association of Health Plans to Hit Five Counties with a New Vaccine Promotion
June 21-25, KAHP will visit a different county each day to give away a pair of concert tickets to those receiving vaccinations (*while supplies last*).
Lexington, Ky. (June 17, 2021) –Kentucky Association of Health Plans (KAHP), the trade association representing all carriers offering health coverage in Kentucky, today announced the fourth phase in the organization’s campaign to improve vaccine acceptance and access in the Commonwealth.
June 21-25, KAHP has teamed up with iHeartMedia and will be giving away a pair of concert tickets to those who receive the first dose of the shot (while supplies last).
KAHP will be in a different county each day handing out tickets to some of the best concerts coming to the region.
“This week we have been in five counties in eastern Kentucky giving away Visa gift cards,” said Tom Stephens, Executive Director of Kentucky Association of Health Plans. “The response has been very encouraging. County health officials are seeing a nice bump in numbers through the promotions. Health plans are looking to continue the momentum with the concert promotion, and while supplies last, individuals receiving the vaccine will have their choice of two tickets to one of the hottest Rock, Country, or Pop shows this summer.”
Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.
The state’s vaccine dashboard shows 2,134,353 Kentuckians have received at least one dose of a vaccine. That is 48% of the state’s population and 59% of its adult population. 12-to-15 year-olds recently became eligible to receive the vaccine.
Kentucky’s health plans are employing a range of tactics to promote vaccine access and acceptance.
June 14-18, KAHP visited the Lee, Owsley, Breathitt, Magoiffin, and Leslie County Health Departments and gave away $100 Visa gift cards each day to those who received the shot.
June 7-11, KAHP held their “Shots Across the Bluegrass” Live Broadcast & Pop-up Vaccination Clinic Tour with Kentucky Sports Radio, with stop in Barren, Green, McCracken, Clay, and Laurel Counties.
Other health plan approaches include digital and radio ads, member incentives, coordinated transportation for plan members, pop-up clinics, homebound vaccination visits, text and email campaigns, yard signs, billboards, outbound calls to members prioritized by risk tier, personalized assistance from advocates with sign-ups and digital site navigation, letters, and follow-up on second dose appointments if a plan is alerted that a member has not received the second dose based on claims data.
