Kentucky Association of Health Plans Announces "Vaccines for Visas" Giveaway

Jun. 14-18, KAHP will be giving away $100 Visa gift cards to those receiving vaccinations each day at a different county health department (*while supplies last*)

Lexington, Ky. (June 12, 2021) –Kentucky Association of Health Plans (KAHP), the trade association representing all carriers offering health coverage in Kentucky, today announced a third phase in the organization’s campaign to improve vaccine acceptance and access in the Commonwealth, this time with a special focus on five counties Eastern Kentucky.

June 14-18, KAHP will be giving away $100 Visa gift cards each day in a different county health department for those who receive the shot (while supplies last). Give cards are for the first shot.

“Kentucky has made a lot of progress on the vaccination front and health plans are playing a key role,” said Tom Stephens, Executive Director of Kentucky Association of Health Plans.  “We’re trying to reach those that have been sitting on the fence.  This promotion will be raising awareness, which is half the battle.”

Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.

The state’s vaccine dashboard shows 2,106,464 Kentuckians have received at least one dose of a vaccine. That is 47% of the state’s population and 58% of its adult population.  12-to-15 year-olds recently became eligible to receive the vaccine.

KAHP just completed its 5-stop “Shots Across the Bluegrass” live broadcast and pop-up vaccine tour with Kentucky Sports Radio of five Kentucky counties, which included stops in Manchester and London.

Kentucky’s health plans are employing a range of tactics to promote vaccine access and acceptance.  KAHP is wrapping up its “Shots Across the Bluegrass” Kentucky Sports Radio Live Broadcast & Pop-up Vaccination Clinic Tour of Barren, Green, McCracken, Clay, and Laurel Counties. Other tactics employed by health plans include digital and radio ads, member incentives, coordinated transportation for plan members, pop-up clinics, homebound vaccination visits, text and email campaigns, yard signs, billboards, outbound calls to members prioritized by risk tier, personalized assistance from advocates with sign-ups and digital site navigation, letters, and follow-up on second dose appointments if a plan is alerted that a member has not received the second dose based on claims data.
